Catholics

    Catholics is an instrumental mathy post-rock band. Combining a wide range of influences from
contemporary classical to late-90s screamo to post-punk and other fun things, Catholics can
be a weird band to pin down. It’s probably best that way; they’d like to think they have a little
something for everyone.
    The ensemble’s current form is composed of founder and guitarist/vocalist Tyler Beall and his
buds John Shafer (guitar and other stuff), Joshua Lynes (bass, guitar and other stuff), and
Daphne Getty (drums, bread and other stuff). They recently released their first full-length album
Synonyms of Void (#8 on Fecking Bahamas Top 50 Math Rock Releases of 2024) through the
hot new local imprint Figurehead Media, along with a split with Jacksonville’s own Prinze Jr.
