for example John

for example John is a math rock band influenced by midwest emo, pop, and punk. It’s a lot of guitars - tapping, up to five live-looped parts, time signatures that sometimes change every bar; a driving rhythm section and jazzy vocals supported by backing harmonies and screams. All of this is crafted with a focus on memorable melodies and a strong balance between calm moments and energetic riffs. The band’s distinctive sound is largely defined by guitar parts played in the open FACGCE and DADF#AE tunings. The band is based in Łódź, but has already performed in the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania  and the United Kingdom.

The year 2026 is the year of release of their 2nd record “failed as a friend” which got a very warm welcome from the music scene - both fans and press. The record pushes the band in the more energetic direction moving listeners with the intimate lyrics and catchy choruses. As the band members say “This is the half-concept album. It's about failing and being failed by the close ones, but without a strict narrative line”.

for example John was founded as an online project in 2020.
